Race Through Storytelling 2: Diving Into Stories
In Course one of RTS you began, or refreshed, your understanding of the social construction of race. You began thinking about how the stories in your life have shaped how you view the world. In this next part we will explore the different types of stories we have experienced and how power privileges the stories of the few, while dominating the stories of many.
Course Details
In this Course you will build on all you learned last Course with a deeper dive into stories over the next 6 weeks. Are you ready to take your understanding of race & power and apply it to the different story types?
Type of learner: You are a teen, young adult, or adult, who wishes to develop a deeper understanding of race and racism through the art of storytelling.
Course logistics: This Course is divided into 6 lessons. Each lesson should take no more than 1 hour, with time for reflection included. It is also encouraged to do a short daily reflection of 10-15 mins in between each lesson.
Suggested tuition: $60 (or $150 to bundle all 3)
Instructor: Brian Williams II, DEI Content Development Specialist, Foundation for Family and Community Healing. Brian has an extensive background in the Sociological exploration of race and its various aspects from identity formation to racism and inequality. He is passionate about building deep connections between people through their stories.
